The Basics
(Note: This section includes what is canonically viewable to other characters, and represents their data on the Hope's Peak Website. The appearance factor will be contained in a photograph. Anything included here will likely be prior knowledge for other characters.)
Name: Mai Nishioka
Nicknames: Four-Eyes
Age: 17
Grade: Second Year
Appearance: Mai's purple hair and red glasses can scream 'look at me' when she walks into a room. Along with the mole on her left cheek, they're one of the ways she's instantly recognised among her fans. She also stands at a respectable 5'4", and has since she was 14, making her stand out among her shorter classmates. However, the rest of her tends to be relatively understated, with few alterations made to her Hope's Peak uniform except for a pair of plain, black shorts under the skirt. Her fencing gear is almost almost on or near her, along with her most preferred fencing sword, her sabre.
Hometown: Kumamoto, Kyushu
Talent: Ultimate Fencer
Mini-Profile: A highly talented fencer, Mai began fencing casually at a dojo in her hometown of Kumamoto at the age of nine, and ramped up in dedication from there on. Most of her youth was defined by her intense dedication to the sport. By the age of fifteen she had already won twelve local competitions, and competed in many more, becoming famous for her quick footwork and aggressive strikes. At seventeen, she left the island of Kyushu to compete in the junior sabre division of the International Fencing Tournament, and had made it to the quarter finals when her elder brother was implicated in a nasty hit-and-run. The crime became highly publicised, and her performance in the tournament was near-forgotten behind the scandal. Even after taking home the gold medal, Mai's reputation as the sister of the man involved in the grizzly accident overtook her entire public image. Graduating from Hope's Peak is what Mai sees as her very last shot of reclaiming her career.
Favorite Color: Lavender
The Details
(Okay, on to the juicy stuff! These details will likely be utilized by the other RPers to determine how to approach your character tactfully… or perhaps piss them off on purpose, if that is indeed their goal. Be thorough, and have some fun!)
General Personality: A perfectionist, plain and simple. She expects nothing of the best out of herself, and even though she's a little more forgiving of others, she can be pretty finicky. She's built up her career by making sure she's always in tip-top shape strategically, and she treats the rest of her life similarly, even if it can make her shut down at times. She has a thing for order, too, to the point where if she's already stressed, a painting being tilted the wrong way can send her mad. On the flip side, she's precise, and also obliging to anyone who wants help keeping things in order.
Socially, Mai is a cautious person. Years of meeting people, only for them to either bring up her brother immediately, or lead the conversation to the topic of the crime has lead her to take a guarded approach to friendship. So, she isn't the most forthcoming. She hopes that meeting other 'talented' people her own age means that she won't have to worry so much about that, though, and she is a fairly forgiving person. So, even if you rub up against her sore spot, she'll probably get over it pretty quickly. As a friend, she's a loyal if occasionally finicky. One thing- she does get defensive if anyone so much as mentions her brother's name.
Mai is guarded, but that’s not to say she's shy- no, she's actually pretty outgoing, if private. She can be critical of others, and her weird quirk of leaning forward, adjusting her glasses and squinting at whoever she's talking to has been the subject of friendly mockery on more than one occasion. She likes to think she's composed, but when she's pushed past a limit, she has a habit of going less-brain-full-brawn. That's when the sabre comes out. Her tendency to forget all logic when under extreme stress is probably what's stopped her from going even further than she has- on the other hand, the fact that it somehow seems to work for her is a testament to her weird luck.

Hobbies: One day, she discovered air hockey, realised that all the reflex training made her good at it, and she's spent hours in every arcade near her home, since. If she's not practicing, she's gotten in the habit of cooking- though considering the alarming frequency that Natto shows up on her menu, not many people are willing to be her guinea pigs- or browsing Top 40s music.
Aspirations: To redefine her career as the fencer who's graduated from Hope's Peak, and to move on to the Olympics by 20.
